Have you been looking through homes for sale? Have you noticed how some home pictures look distorted? Over photo-shopped? Pictures of half a room?
And a personal favorite, pictures of a half made bed with dirty laundry on the floor and a dog!
We here at real estate photography midwest send out a checklist of items to go through when preparing your home for sale. This checklist isn’t only for having the best possible pictures taken, it’s also an awesome list for how to make your home look for when each prospective buyer walks through your home. Believe us, you will find things you may never have thought of. We’ve included here: https://www.realestatephotographymidwest.com/post/20-ways-to-prepare-your-home-for-great-real-estate-photography
When you look for a great real estate photographer, don’t be afraid to ask them questions. May I see some real estate photography of the homes that you shot? How long will it take for me to receive my images back after the shoot? What if it’s raining or snowing during my scheduled time? Will you come back to take pictures when it’s nice?
Can you provide a few references of others you took real estate photographs for?
Do their past images welcome you home?
Does the real estate photographer offer all the services you want for the presentation of your property? How much time will the shoot take?
Compare the real estate photographers pictures to other home pictures within your search. How do they compare?
The attention to detail is just that. It’s attention to detail. Every inside home light is turned on. Every item that looks like clutter or doesn't fit in the picture is removed while being photographed. Yep, we’ve even removed the kids little blue whale by the tub when needed….
And finally, communication. It doesn’t matter if you’re a real estate agent or the homeowner. If a photographer is not responding to you within a few hours, it’s time to move on and look for another.
Think of it this way….If they are not willing to answer any and all of your questions timely, what kind of work do you think they will do? Will the real estate photographer show up on time? What if you need to change a time? What if you have a question? Who is more important than you?
